RESEARCH GROUPS AT STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY UNIT

The SBU research pursues the understanding of the cell machinery and physiological processes from a structural and functional perspective. The study of proteins, nucleic acids and their interactions to elucidate the molecular basis of physiological processes and pathology is the principal interest of SBU researchers.

From this point of view, SBU research lines address different topics as the regulation of nucleic acid replication and transcription, structure-function analysis of proteases and host-microbiome interactions, the study of different pathogens -including viruses-, and organelles like peroxisomes and mitochondria. A separate but highly complementary line of research is centered on the development of computational methods for X-ray crystallography.
